What is a barcode generator?

A barcode generator turns text or numbers into a machine-readable barcode image. This tool supports the most common symbologies — CODE128, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, CODE39, ITF-14 and MSI — and lets you adjust bar width, height, font size and colours. Everything is generated locally in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded. Download a high-resolution PNG or a lossless SVG and use it on labels, packaging or printed material.

Tips

  • ✓For EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and ITF-14 just enter the first digits — the check digit is calculated automatically.
  • ✓Keep the quiet zones on both sides of the barcode intact; do not crop them when printing.
  • ✓Print dark bars on a light or white background and avoid inverted or low-contrast colours.
  • ✓If a scanner cannot read the code, increase the bar width or height and download again.

FAQ

Can I use these barcodes on products?

Retail barcodes such as EAN-13, EAN-8 and UPC require a company prefix from GS1 before commercial use. This tool is ideal for your own labels, internal use and testing.

Are my data uploaded when generating a barcode?

No. Barcodes are generated entirely in your browser and the content is never sent to a server.

Why does my scanner not read the barcode?

Typical causes are bars that are too thin, poor contrast, cropped quiet zones or blurry resizing. Increase the width and height, download again, and make sure the printed size fits the scanning distance.
